Michael Schaaf, Partner
One of the Partners of Community Investment Associates, Michael Schaaf, has worked in small towns, inner cities, and regions to develop solid analyses and plans, to carry out development projects ranging from commercial blocks to business parks, and to implement development programs such as revolving loan funds and micro-business development. He has an impressive track record in successfully assembling public/private projects and financings. Mr. Schaaf has over ten years experience in quasi-public lending institutions, fifteen years in private sector consulting, and three years in nonprofit community development.
Carolyn Britt, AICP, Partner
Carolyn Britt, AICP, Partner, has worked with municipal governments in both cities and small towns to fund and develop a variety of projects in infrastructure and economic development, downtown revitalization, housing, zoning and open space preservation. She has worked in private consulting in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts, with over ten years experience in state government in Massachusetts, and twelve years in local planning department work. She has served on the Board of the Massachusetts Historical Commission, the Massachusetts Community Development Finance Corporation, the Governor's Task Force on Homelessness, and the MA Chapter of the American Planning Association. In her community, Ms. Britt has served on the Government Study and Master Plan Committees, and is currently Co-Chair of the Open Space Committee. Ms. Britt received her B.A. in Sociology from the University of Connecticut, and has a Master of Arts (Population Studies and Human Ecology) and doctoral candidacy (Ph.C.) in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Michigan.
